Filipino-style spaghetti is an interesting take on an Italian classic dish. Made with banana catsup and hot dogs, it's not your ordinary bolognese! I had so many fond memories of Filipino-style spaghetti growing up it's amazing how obsessed I was with this pasta dish.

To begin with this particular recipe, we have to prepare a few ingredients. You can have filipino style spaghetti using 9 ingredients and 9 steps. Here is how you can achieve that.

The ingredients needed to make FILIPINO STYLE SPAGHETTI:
  1. Take 1 kg Pasta
  2. Make ready 1 kg Spaghetti Sauce
  3. Get 1 1/2 cup Water
  4. Take 1 small onion, chopped
  5. Make ready 3 clove garlic, minced
  6. Prepare 1/2 kg hotdog, sliced diagonally
  7. Get 1/2 kg corned beef
  8. Prepare 1/2 Cheese, grated
  9. Get 1 Sugar

I used tomato sauce instead of spaghetti sauce (the spices in pre-made spaghetti sauce are definitely not Filipino). American hot dogs are indeed too salty for this recipe. It's a sweet, sticky, saucy, even-sold-at-McDonald's thing. Much like the pancit from last week, this meal was served at almost every birthday party at the orphanage where I worked this last year, usually mushed together on kids' plastic plates with heaping piles of steaming rice and some mixed vegetables.

Steps to make FILIPINO STYLE SPAGHETTI:
  1. Cook pasta according to instructions in the packaging. Set aside
  2. Saute garlic and onion until aromatic.
  3. Put the hotdog and cook for 3mins
  4. Add the corned beef and cook for another 2mins
  5. Add the sauce and water and let it simmer. with occasional stirring
  6. Add sugar until the desired sweetness of sauce.
  7. Add the cheese and let it simmer for another 3mins with occasional stirring.
  8. Mix the pasta in the sauce.
  9. Add grated cheese on top and serve :)

Filipino style spaghetti is unlike any spaghetti you've had before. It's sweet, made with banana ketchup, topped with a mountain of sharp cheddar cheese and has hotdogs! Get ready to spaghetti, Filipino-style (yeah I don't know what that means either lol). Next, brown the ground beef and garlic in a large pot over medium heat. Then, add your favorite pasta sauce, the wiener logs, salt, pepper, and the herbs of your choice and bring the mixture to a simmer.
